Title
Steps
Description

Absent from mid-eighteenth-century maps, the steps, which connected the rear courtyard of the Palace with the neighbourhood of Piazzutta below, were probably built in the decades immediately after since they were already in place when the Palace was purchased in 1821 by Michele Coronini.

Gradually falling into disuse after the opening of the access avenue on Via del Ponte Nuovo, it was eventually buried after damage caused by bombing in World War I, while the entrance gateway was walled up. As a result of recent restoration work in the Park this entrance and the steps have been restored.
