Historical information

This large portrait depicts Olga Westphalen Fürstenberg, mother of Count Guglielmo Coronini Cronberg. It is a tempera on paper by the Austrian painter Alois Hans Schram (1864-1919) made in 1898, only three years after the marriage of the noblewoman to Carlo Coronini.

An academic painter only touching on the stylistic innovations of the Jugendstil, as well as a refined portrait painter, Schram was the author of historical subjects as well as landscapes of which interesting examples are still to be found in the Coronini collections.

The painting is mounted in a magnificent coeval frame with elaborate floral decorations, in line with the modern stylistic figures of the Viennese Secession.
