Questa e l'altra natura morta che le fa pendant, già appartenute a Carlo Girolamo Coronini, furono esposte alla I Esposizione Artistica Goriziana del 1887 con l'attribuzione Minderhout. Tale nome è riportato sul retro scritto sulla tavola e su un'etichetta. Hendrik van Minderhout però è un noto pittore di marine, pertanto non è chiara la motivazione alla base dell'attribuzione. Considerazioni stilistiche e il monogramma presente sulla tavola in esame suggeriscono piuttosto che le due opere vadano assegnate a Martin Dichtl, pittore attivo a Norimberga e a Vienna e autore di nature morte simili.
