The furniture collection comprises over 400 pieces and is among the most important in the Palace. They range from 16th-century pieces, such as relief-carved chests, to precious Baroque furniture decorated in tortoiseshell and gilded bronze, to refined 18th-century drawing room items in the Rococo and Louis XVI styles.
There are also numerous furnishings from the early 19th century, in the Empire and Restoration styles, the most significant examples of which can be seen in the Charles X Room, and later pieces in the Biedermeier style.
The provenance of the furniture is extremely varied: Venetian, Austrian, German, French and Russian.
