The Rock Garden

The part of the natural escarpment descending towards what was once the bed of the Corno stream was transformed into the Rock Garden towards the end of the 19th century. In fact, Count Alfredo had dozens of large karst stones placed here to create a suitable environment for exotic plants to take root and to obtain, according to the tastes of the time, evocative Mediterranean-type scenery.

The south-eastern exposure allowed the rocks to capture the sun's heat and conserve it to the benefit of the agaves, yuccas and flowering bushes that originally decorated this area of the park and, in particular, the cork oak, which is still preserved. Recent interventions have restored the original Mediterranean-style vegetation.
