Count Guglielmo Coronini's inheritance not only includes the Grafenberg Palace with its rooms full of furniture, paintings and ornaments, but also a very rich heritage of historical and artistic assets of all kinds. In addition to the numerous pieces of furniture, paintings, carpets, silverware, clocks, glass and porcelain that did not find a place in the rooms of the residence, there are also prints, drawings, coins and medals, weapons, fans, jewellery, dresses and lace.
However, we can only talk about a few of these items belonging to collections in the proper sense, i.e. intentionally assembled pieces following a project or idea. The existence of a definite collecting intent, nurtured over the years by various members of the family, or traced back to Guglielmo alone, can only be identified with certainty with regard to the substantial sets of prints and coins.
As far as most of the other collections are concerned, they are nothing more than the result of the process of accumulation of decorative and everyday objects carried out by the Coronini family over the centuries. These were expanded by numerous valuable inheritances and, in some cases, by Guglielmo’s purchases, who had interests which spanned the most diverse fields.
