Lower Plateau

A winding path descends along the rock garden to the large lower field, closed on one side by the embankment erected for the construction of the bridge over the Corno stream, which was eventually filled in after World War II.

This area of diverse vegetation, lacking any real arrangement until now, was once cultivated with vines and olive trees, but after a frost in 1928 caused the death of these crops, it was leased out as a vegetable garden and mowing meadow.

The hillock that can be seen on the valley floor was erected in the 1960s by Count Guglielmo, who had four Himalayan cedars planted there.

At the foot of the embankment, from where a wide path lined with holm oaks leads up to the upper area, a low concrete structure is preserved that concealed a 22-metre-deep well. Water was channelled from the well to the upper areas by means of a powerful pump, allowing the irrigation of the entire park. The new arrangement is intended to exploit this large area, used for hosting events and educational activities.
