Among the first interventions for the redevelopment of the Park carried out by Count Alfredo Coronini was the opening of a wide avenue connecting the palace entrance with Via del Ponte Nuovo, inaugurated in 1858.
To create the new access, it was necessary to remove two stones from the public road. At the end of the new avenue, in the middle of a circular flowerbed, a statue was later placed of Gian Battista Coronini, which Alfredo had purchased in 1883.
The artwork, which came from the church of the castle in Quisca (now Kojsko), had been commissioned by Rodolfo Coronini in 1774 from the Venetian sculptor Marco Chiereghin, as documented in the contract, accompanied by the monument's design, which is preserved in the family archives.
