Poor lacquer is a technique that was used primarily in the Lombard-Venetian area during the 18th century, which aimed to economically imitate the expensive lacquered furniture imported from the East.
The surface of the furniture was in fact decorated with figures cut from prints, coloured and skilfully arranged to form compositions of varying degrees of elaboration.
The surface was then covered and protected with layers of lacquer. The scenes covering this piece of furniture are inspired by the themes of hunting and fishing. The moulding, or upper crowning is in carved wood.
